Academy 2019: our sponsors
JCDecaux is the world’s largest out-of-home media company, present globally in over 80 countries.
Our business is built on the provision of two services: public information, and public amenities. We work with local government to help improve infrastructure and communication opportunities for communities. This includes supporting technology provision and environmental responsibility, through services such as public bicycle hire systems, recycling facilities, living walls and roofs, Wi-Fi hot spots, device charging points and touchscreen information displays.
At the same time, councils can take advantage of the broadcast communication channels provided by our Out-of-Home (OOH) and Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) media, located at the heart of communities across the UK, in city centres, transport hubs, shopping centres and supermarkets, and on major roads.
OOH is a democratic, universally accessible medium, providing councils with inclusive, broad message reach. It is proven to raise awareness and encourage behaviour change in public sector campaigns, helping to achieve strategic priorities, promote initiatives and signpost services.
DOOH technology provides additional layers of targeting which encourage closer, more open community communication. Campaigns are planned and delivered at key times and locations using sophisticated data sets, reaching target groups within the community with messaging designed specifically to appeal to them, building the most efficient, effective campaigns and making a measurable difference.

Panacea Software – the market leader for UK councils’ marketing and communications teams
Panacea Software streamlines workflow, combining project, approval and budget management. It allows effective collaboration with suppliers and clients, offers interactive brand templates for digital, print and social media, interfaces with finance systems for charging and payments and improves productivity by automating administrative tasks, enabling teams to focus on strategic priorities.
“Like many council services, we face huge budget cuts each year, while the need for effective communications remains high. We met these challenges head on, thanks to the automation, data and savings gained using Panacea Software.”
Ros Daniel, Creative Services Manager, Camden Council
“Panacea has enabled automated client requests through self-service creating a seamless workflow from customer to supplier. Having the facility to automatically generate quotes from suppliers for customers directly is having a positive impact on capacity within the team, reducing admin and allowing customers to self-quote to get the right price and volumes for more standard requests.”
Eddie Coates-Madden, Head of Communications, Sheffield City Council
CAN: digital advertising for the public sector…and more
Probably best known to communications professionals as “the people who put ads on council websites”, CAN has been generating income for local government in this way for more than five years. As well as getting council campaigns in front of the right audiences online and on social media.
Our Council Advertising Network has more than 50 local council partners, as well as 100-plus other local government partners in transport (including Transport for London), tourism and jobs. And our Citizen Reach council campaign tally is up to around 200.
In response to requests from council comms teams for advice on a particular ‘pain point’ – advertising sales for their print publications – CAN has recently moved beyond digital with our Sponsorship and Advertising Sales (the SAS!) service. This audits all a council’s assets, provides recommendations for new and renegotiated revenue streams, develops a media pack for the whole offer, and achieves sales though a local resource.
At LGComms Academy 2019, our Sales Director John-Paul Danon and Sales Manager Eleri Salter will be out and about and ready to chat both days, as well as hosting at the ‘Income Generation’ workshop.
