2008 LGcommunications conference
This year's conference was a great success and explored the latest and most successful innovations in the communications business.
London proved to be an excellent setting, and speakers and delegates alike were enthusiastic about raising the standard of local government communications. More than 20 top speakers from key public and private sector organisations including MORI, LGA, BBC and TFL shared their knowledge. Interactive panel sessions and workshops enabled delegates to discuss how they can implement the key findings in their own council communications teams.
‘Innovation in communication’ is about constantly improving and questioning the way we communicate, so that we can connect more effectively with our communities and manage our councils' reputations. The challenge is on for local government communicators to drive the communications function as a strategic part of policy shaping - and LGcomms is set to play a leading role in supporting this.
Webcasts, presentations and speaker information are archived and available on www.lgcomms.public-i.tv.
Coming soon: Former LGcomms chair Jayne Surman and new chairman David Holdstock tell us about their impressions of the conference and their vision for the future of LGcomms.
