The image of the store in Croydon burning down was really shocking and my dad sitting in his house down in Bromley felt vulnerable and disconcerted. This is a person who at 90 is still an active citizen sitting on different committees at the local church to the local Arts Council. The idea of community cohesion is something that he feels that he plays a real role in helping and supporting.
But when these incidents play out you are somehow challenged in your own perceptions of what your area is all about.
