For me, Christmas has come early ...

The two highlights of my LGcommunications year are to welcome the new intake of Future Leaders and to attend the Public Services Communications Academy. So for me, Christmas has come early.

Our Future Leaders represent the very best in public sector comms and the standard of applicants gets higher each year. Having had the chance to meet them during their two day spell in London last week, working with local and central government colleagues, including a trip to Number 10, they are a hugely impressive bunch. I very much look forward to them taking LGcommunications itself to the next level with their energy, drive, creativity, ideas and leadership.

In a few weeks time, we’ll be gathering in Coventry from 10 to 12 November for the second Public Sector Communications Academy, organised in partnership with the Government Communications Service (GCS).

Whilst we completely understand the difficulties of getting out of the office and reducing comms and training budgets, we are totally committed to your professional development, which is why we have tried to make sure there are real points of strategic and practical learning in every session of the three days of Academy. We want you to be better equipped to deal with the challenges we all face. We’re confident you will be able to implement many of these ideas as soon as you get back to your organisation, driving best value and better results. We have speakers from the best of the public and private sector, from central and local government, including Google, Facebook, GCS and inspiring leaders from local government and the public services. By attending you’ll also be able to build your network of peers to whom you will be able to turn to for instant support and feedback on issues or ideas you may have. That is truly invaluable.

So if you have booked for Academy already, I look forward to seeing you there. If you haven’t, take a moment to look at the agenda at and think about the professional development on offer to you and your colleagues for, what we believe is, amazing value.
