Public Sector Communications Academy returns to Birmingham for 2018

We are pleased to announce that the Public Sector Communications Academy 2018, will be held at Unique Venues Birmingham on the 9th-10th October 2018.

Academy is a yearly event run by LGcomms and the Government Communication Service, which gives communications professionals from all over the country the chance to come together, learn and see the latest best practice in the industry.

Unique Venues Birmingham (UVB) is a partnership between the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and the Library of Birmingham, who have combined to produce an impressive venue in the heart of the city.

The 2017 Academy, held in Leeds ran over two days with a total of 600 delegates, 100 of which attended both days. There were 48 sessions across the two days including plenaries from leading communicators and workshops on building your resilience and being a better leader and Transforming the way we communicate with citizens.

After sorting through a variety of different venues, the LGcomms exec decided that UVB was the right fit for this year’s academy. The UVB offers a unique and historic building with a large space, in a central location.

Simon Jones, Chairman of LGcomms, said: “I am excited for this year’s academy to be held in Birmingham.

“The UVB is a historic location and there will be plenty to see alongside the usual great collection of seminars, workshops and speakers.”

The Birmingham Library is Europe’s biggest public library, housing the largest collection of Shakespeare first editions in the world. It attracts 1.8m visitors a year, making it the most popular visitor attraction outside London.
