Communicating complex and sensitive issues: rough sleeping
Tuesday 27 November (9.30am-3.30pm)
St Mungo's, 29 Francis Street, SW1P 1QL, London
Rough sleeping is a complex issue addressed by communications teams across the UK on a regular basis.
We have put together a seminar packed full of content and learning from some of the best award-winning campaigns, taking place at the very start of the winter months, when rough sleeping is often most in the spotlight.
There will be a chance to hear from frontline staff, including the charities who work every day to make a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable. Our keynote speaker is Petra Salva, Director of Services at St Mungo's, who will share her wide ranging experience of the issues facing people living on the street and how to help them.
Delegates will also be given an overview of some of the common myths around this topic – and take part in a discussion as to how we as communicators can help break these down.
The seminar will be of use to anyone who is talking about rough sleeping in the coming months, or who is interested in how to communicate complex or sensitive issues more generally.
The session will be jointly led by Brighton and Hove City Council and Westminster City Council.
